‘At Last Fighting is Over’: The end of the First World War on the Front and in Cheltenham

July 12 @ 9:30 am - 7:45 pm

Free

In 1920 Cheltenham Borough Council commissioned Fred Roe to paint a war memorial picture. It portrayed six officers from the 1st Battalion of the 5th Gloucestershire Regiment, the first soldiers to leave Cheltenham the day after war was declared. The exhibition offers the first opportunity to see the painting at the museum for many years. Also on view will be rarely seen items from the collections, as well as items on loan from Cheltenham Ladies College and the Soldiers of Gloucestershire Museum.
