This will be an opportunity for people to reflect on the commemoration activities which have taken place in St Peter’s & The Moors and support to form a new group ‘Friends of St Peter’s War Memorial’ to maintain and preserve the newly restored war memorial. This will follow on from the remembrance service.
The Great War Society will be joining us to recreate a WW1 Army training camp that will give a unique insight into these aspects of life during WW1. They will be setting up camp at the Folly, Swindon Road for a weekend of living history. Site opens 10-3 with demonstrations at 11am and 2pm. There will also be fun activities for all the family including traditional games, dressing up and treasure hunts. Why not bring a picnic and make a day of it?
This exhibition at the Hardwick Gallery focuses on the effect of the war on life in the St Peters & The Moors area of Cheltenham. We are asking local residents to share their WW1 family stories to go alongside information and exhibits which show the impact of the war in the area. Exhibition created by SPTM Big Local.
